Herbert Pizer 1890-1920 British School Early 20th.Century. "The Blue Bird", Watercolour and gouache drawing, Signed lower left, and inscribed verso, 30 by 45 cms. A gorgeous original art work by Pizer who, had he not died young would certainly now be remembered as one of the great commercial artists. He had studios in both London and New York specialising in illustrative magazine work and commercial advertising. His work defined the changing visual culture of the post-WW1 era, 'The Jazz Age'. He captured the transitioning styles of the early Flapper and Art Deco Movements. Sadly his career was cut short when he died from appendicitis at the age of 30.
