Cattleya Orchid Hybrid SVO12080 (C. Leoloddiglossa 'Exotic Orchids' AM/AOS 4n x C. Interglossa 'SVO Blue Flair')

Imported seedling from Sunset Valley Orchids, USA, bred by Fred Clarke. C. Leoloddiglossa has been a remarkable hybrid. It is the first highly successful coerulea (blue) flower spotted with coerulea (blue) spots!! The parents are three Cattleya species: leopoldii, loddigesii, amethystoglossa, thus the name: Leoloddiglossa (leo-loddi-glossa). ‘Aquinii Blue SVO' has excellent shape and colour, and carries 20 or more well-presented flowers. Interglossa (intermedia x amethystoglossa) is a coerulea aquinii or blue flared flower, and its breeding potential is very exciting. Have you ever imagined a flower with coerulea sepals peppered with darker blue spots and petals flared in blue? Neither did I, until recently. The best of these are going to be very special!
