Allium ascalonicum 150 Seeds Traditional French echalion variety with long, tapered copper-skinned bulbs. Echalions or echalots are a cross between onions and true shallots. Also known as 'Banana Shallot'. This is a long day variety suited to cold climates. Can be used in soups or stews, or raw in salads. Hardy biennial usually grown as an annual. Sow direct or in seed trays from July through to September, and harvest mid to late Summer after tops dry off. Best grown in full sun and very well-drained soil. Sowing depth: 5mm
