A Pair of Decorated Chilean Huaso Spurs - Spur629
A pair of antique steel South American spurs with large rowels. The heel bands are covered in silver coloured metal and have inlaid brass and copper geometric decoration. The ends of the heel bands of the spurs have two slots for straps and are decorated with a copper alloy overlay and "beads". A ring has been attached to each slot. There are old leather straps, but these are very stiff & dry. There is "beading" where the necks join the bodies of the spurs. The necks have copper alloy overlay and pierced decoration. One of the necks is loose. They have large many pointed steel rowels which show a little surface oxidation. They still turn freely There are no maker's marks or stamps Dimensions : 7½" (18.5cm) long including rowel x 3¼" (8cm) internal width, Rowel 3" (7.5cm) Weight - approx 1lb 10½oz (757g) Ref : spur629
