Khatima's Black & White Flatweave Runner | 26.7" x 5'-4"
This rug was handwoven by Khatima, an artisan from Anzal, a women-only association located in a village about 30 kilometers north of the popular weaving town of Tazenakht. Founded in 2007, the Anzal collective continues to preserve the region’s weaving traditions through generations of women passing the craft down to one another. This piece is woven using the Zanafi technique, a style that comes from the High Atlas Mountains. Extra special for its reversible construction, the technique allows the symbols to invert depending on which side of the rug is shown. The design intricately weaves in Amazigh symbolism, carrying forward a rich artistic tradition through pattern, texture, and form.
