Antique Somewake Cotton Furoshiki
An antique Japanese somewake cotton furoshiki dating back to the early 20th century. This thoughtfully composed wrapping cloth features a two-tone (somewake) design with the auspicious motifs of shō-chiku-bai - pine, bamboo and plum - together with a family crest (kamon) and origami cranes in the corners. What makes this piece particularly unusual is the flowing diagonal division, formed by a natural tree branch rather than the straight line more commonly found on somewake textiles. This subtle detail gives the composition a gentle, organic feel. Made from medium-weight cotton, it has a soft handle developed through years of use. It is in good antique condition with some small holes and stains. Please see the last photo for details. Material: cotton Width 95 cm Length: 106 cm
