Monstera esqueleto (Semi Rooted)
The Monstera esqueleto, also known as Monstera epipremnoides, originates from the mountains in the rainforests of Costa Rica. It is distinctive among houseplants due to its exceptionally large leaves and prominent fenestrations, which are holes in the leaves. These unique features set the Monstera esqueleto apart from other plants. While its leaves resemble those of a Monstera adansonii, they differ significantly in size and thickness. The name ‘esqueleto,’ meaning ‘skeleton’ in Spanish, accurately describes the leaf shape resembling a skeleton. Mature and healthy Monstera esqueleto plants have more holes than actual leaf surface on their large leaves. The leaves can be incredibly thin, contributing to the plant's intriguing appearance. Here are some notable distinctions between Monstera adansonii and Monstera esqueleto: Monstera adansonii leaves are smaller, darker green, and lack significant texture. When grown indoors, their leaves typically reach only 10-15cm long and feature small, ovular holes arranged without a specific pattern. In contrast, Monstera esqueleto leaves are large, light green, and possess a leathery texture. Even when grown indoors, their leaves can grow up to 60cm long and display giant, symmetrical fenestrations. Some people find that mature esqueleto leaves resemble a rib cage. Semi Rooted. A stable root system forming through the perlite. Fluval Stratum on top of perlite. Shipping Note Plants grown in perlite are shipped in their inner containers. The reservoir is emptied before packing to keep the plant secure. Please refill the outer cup with fresh water and your usual Growth Technology Rootzone, CCS, Flower Focus, or Foliage Focus mix once it arrives.
