Thomas, F.E. - Special 8' 3/2 6wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is an F.E. Thomas Special 8' 3/2 6wt bamboo rod in very good original condition. Medium toned cane with bronzed snake guides and red agate stripping guide. Windings are dark maroon. A few accent wraps at the hook keeper and mid male ferrule are damaged or missing, and the varnish has some areas of light bag burn throughout. I would characterize these issues as minor, although the next custodian may wish to shore up the existing accent wraps with a light overcoat, or rewrap them altogether. 10/64 and 17/64 ferrules fit perfectly, and all sections are straight & full length. 6" grip is clean and lightly ridged, and the rod is fitted with a cap & ring reel seat over mortised spacer. The butt cap retains the maker's stamp and the base is stamped "35" in concentric circles. Scripted & actual weight is 4 1/8oz. Action on the faster side of medium fast, the rod has fine tips and comes to life with a DT6. A very nice FET dry fly taper with a strongly swelled butt. Sold in the original bag with hangtag and brass capped tube with intact decal.
