Domaine du Grand Brussy Menetou-Salon 2023

Given the popularity of winemaker Damien’s Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé, I had to go back and see what else he had up his sleeve. He immediately suggested Menetou-Salon, one of the Loire’s best-kept secrets. It’s a wine which you don’t find much of outside of France. That’s because you’ll find it as the white by-the-glass option in nearly every single Parisian restaurant. As a result, only 15% of the region’s production is exported. You get all the elegance and sophistication of a Loire Sauvignon Blanc here, but the Kimmeridgian clay you find in Menetou-Salon gives it a much richer and more tropical flavour. And because it’s not as famous as neighbouring Sancerre, the price is an absolute snip for the quality.
