Kiaguthu Wet Mill.
Kiaguthu Wet Mill | Othaya, Nyeri | 500+ Producers | Kenya Othaya is Nyeri. And Nyeri is, by almost any measure, the spiritual home of Kenyan specialty coffee. The Kiaguthu Wet Mill sits at the heart of Othaya in Nyeri County, processing cherry from over 500 smallholder producers farming the rich volcanic soils of Kenya's Central Highlands. This is one of the most storied wet mills in one of the most celebrated coffee growing regions on the planet, and the cup makes that case immediately. We have roasted Kiaguthu before, but in its natural processed form. This time we are working with the washed version, and it is a different conversation entirely. Bright, light and juicy, with ripe orange and grapefruit forward on the palate and beautiful spicy aromatics. The acidity is clean and vibrant, the body is delicate. A textbook Nyeri cup, and a reminder of why Kenya sits at the top of the world's specialty coffee conversation. This is our lightest roast on offer. Brewed best as a pour over or filter to let the citrus and spice sing.
