Fused Glass Birds | Tuesday 21st July - 6pm till 8.30pm

Enjoy some creative time designing and making your very own fused glass fantasy bird. Think bold colours, fun shapes, colours and textures. Your piece can be finished on a stake (so you can then choose to display it in a plant pot or block of wood) or with a wire loop for hanging up. After a brief introduction to how to work safely with glass, we will teach you a simple technique of cutting glass sheets. You’ll use this to alter pre-cut shapes, shortening them before layering up your chosen colours. You will be given a simple base shape to work into, approx. 13cm, you can add a flouncy tail before picking from a rainbow of colours and a myriad of decorative details and build your unique creation. Although you could use a real breed, for example a robin, bluetit or kingfisher as inspiration, it is important to come to the session with an open mind, think fun and abstract. We can’t guarantee colours and shapes for this workshop but if we can help with a specific request/idea, we will! The course fee includes all equipment and enough materials to enable you to make one detailed piece, this is also usual for the amount of time. If you wish to add the extra special dichroic sparkle, there is a small additional cost for this, payable on the day directly to the tutor. All dependant on how much you glitz you choose to add, extra £2-£10. Your creations will need to fired in a kiln, cleaned and finished and so will be ready for collection approximately 2-3 weeks after the session from the venue.
