2021 Chardonnay - Clone 548

While 2021 was a tricky vintage, our little piece of paradise here in Winona continues to shine! The clone 548 standing solo here, is typically the backbone of Senchuk Vineyard Chardonnay. The nose is initially reductive and tight, showing corn husk and lemon curd, but quickly opens up to multiple layers of peach blossom, salted caramel, honeysuckle and sea-spray. The palate is a lovely expansion already highlighted on the nose. It has spiced peach, grilled pineapple, preserved lemon with lemon grass and wet stone minerality filling out the back end. There is a beautiful richness that is tight in the core with waves of flavours that keep unfolding with more time and air. The mouth-watering acidity emphases the saline characteristics found on the nose and palate. A truly wonderful expression of what we love about clone 548.
