Lot 602 | 2024 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 750ml
***BOTTLING EARLY APRIL, SHIPPING SHORTLY AFTER*** We have a long history of targeting estate-grown, single-vineyard wines from top producers – these gems reflect a complete, unbroken chain from soil to cellar, crafted by artisans to tell the story of a single place in one season. Well under 5% of total U.S. wine production meets this standard, and as your personal high-end wine buyers and curators, it’s obvious why we’re always chasing these needles in a haystack. Today’s find is no exception: a few barrels of one of the Russian River Valley’s signature Pinot Noir offerings landed at a great price! Lot 602 is a 100% estate-grown, hillside single-vineyard Pinot Noir from a famed Sonoma producer near the Sebastopol-Graton corridor. A beauty hailing from a revered cool-climate Goldridge site that produces some of the valley’s benchmark terroir expressions, this wine is made exclusively from select blocks to tell the story of the estate every year. Riding our recent hot streak of acquisitions, we’ve kept that momentum going by negotiating this $70+/bottle down to just $24! A fabulous expression of world-class vineyard stewardship that’s long been a favorite of collectors, this is a precision-crafted jewel you can claim for yourself without any hoops – as always, no hefty premiums on the secondary market or waiting for an acceptance letter. Yours for just... $24+/bottle! Nestled into rolling terrain near the heart of Russian River, these vines produce grapes of a Burgundian-trained winemaker’s dreams. Lingering fog and chilly winds create a long growing season, allowing the berries to retain ample acidity. Well-drained Goldridge soils encourage deep roots and naturally moderate vine vigor, yielding smaller berries and concentrated flavors. Our source’s approach was restrained, and the grapes fermented in small open tops with indigenous yeasts. Punch downs were done by hand, and given the high-quality 2024 vintage, kept to a minimum for a lighter extraction. Aging took place in hand-selected French oak barrels to add nuance, but not dominance. Elegantly perfumed on the nose, forest floor and cherries coalesce with sage, anise, and rose petals, accented by swirls of brown sugar and red licorice. The entry is expertly balanced between terroir and red fruit, with a refreshing acidity and deft texture supported by crushed velvety tannins. A focused finish of red fruit, floral lift, and spice umami is still youthful, but the wine has all the architecture to evolve gracefully for years to come. 13.5% alc
