A Pair of Regency Mahogany 'Pelta' Back Hall Chairs in the manner of Gillows

The 'pelta' backs with excellent carved detail and ball finials to the crest. Solid seats raised on a pair of reeded, sabre front legs and swept back legs. In the manner of Gillows English circa 1815 A set of similar chairs were supplied to Syston Park, Lincolnshire, possibly by Gillows, shown in the library in a mid 19th century picture of the house, illustrated Sotheby's London 13 June 2001, lot 120.
