The North of Berlin Dryzone is a rugged adventure jacket with a whopping seven (seven!) zippered vents, plenty of pockets, and a refreshingly low-key aesthetic that belies its capabilities. Note: The Dryzone has been updated for the 2026 season with minor changes. The cut, armor, CE rating, and materials otherwise remain unchanged. The new version no longer features the circular velcro patch on the left-hand shoulder, or the small horizontal Velcro patch, and accompanying "North of Berlin" patch, on the left chest. And the new jackets also come with tariffs! So the price has crept up slightly, and viewable here at the updated Dryzone jacket product page. What the Dryzone jacket *is not* is waterproof. And despite the somewhat confusing naming convention, that’s a good thing. Why? Because the motorcycle jacket market has no shortage of Gore-Tex laminate adventure jackets. Brands like KLIM and REVIT have plenty of options in this department. But that recipe adds bulk, cost, and ultimately most folks don’t necessarily need a Gore-Tex waterproof jacket. For warmer-weather adventures, separate rain gear (like the North of Berlin Swamp series) is perfectly adequate. And for the bulk of the time you’re on the bike, lighter weight, more breathable, non-waterproof jacket isn’t just sufficient, it’s arguably more desirable. Enter the Dryzone, a CE AA-rated jacket with 5-piece Level 2 armor complement from Sas-Tec. This jacket is built with a heavy duty Cordura ripstop shell, but it’s noticeably lighter and less stiff than its sibling jacket, the Moto 65, which has a Sympatex liner basted inside its shell. Like our other North of Berlin jackets, the Dryzone comes with a lofted yellow mesh interior liner, which helps wick sweat and provides a comfortable feel. Corduroy trim at the cuffs and collar complete the comfy trim. While underway on warmer days, the Dryzone sports seven mesh-backed vents—two shoulder, two under-arm, two back, and a central zipper flap that snaps out of the way when not in use, and ties into the jacket’s main zipper when needed, providing a full 2” central stripe of mesh down the center of the jacket. The back vents have a strap-and-snap setup that allows the wearer to pin them in the open position, encouraging the venturi effect at speed, which helps move air through the jacket. The jacket also has a zippered hip gusset for adjusting the fit in the seated position, and a two-way zipper to help the jacket splay open as needed. Two inside pockets and four outside pockets—the lower two of which are waterproof—provide ample storage on the go. And the final feature of the jacket bearing mention is a hip-to-hip zipper that can tie into either of the North of Berlin pants we carry - with the most logical pairing being the Dryzone pant. Protection: Certified according to EN 17092-3:2020 (Level AA). Abrasion-resistant and breathable Cordura ripstop fabric as outer material. The use of a ripstop fabric increases the tear resistance compared to smooth fabric. Highly flexible and extremely flat Sas-Tec protectors on shoulders, elbows and back. All protectors used reach level 2 in protective effect. Features: Five outside pockets, two of which are waterproof, two lockable inside pockets. Pocket on the forearm for keys or change. Quality metal zippers from YKK. Internal drawstring to adjust the waist size. A uniform long connecting zipper between jacket and trousers makes it easier to combine different clothing sizes.
