Glen Garioch 14 Years Old The Auld and the Bold

This single malt was distilled in 2011 at the Glen Garioch Distillery in Oldmeldrum in the Highland Region of Scotland. It was aged for 14 years in a single Oloroso butt, creating a brooding dram that opens with warm walnut skins, buttered raisin loaf, and a seam of dark chocolate. A flicker of struck match drifts through but stays well-behaved, before a palate which deepens into richer cocoa, raisins steeped in syrup, and a thread of Madagascan vanilla.
