Cedar Wood Nativity Triptych

A hinged three-panel triptych carved from cedar, the doors textured with close horizontal chisel marks and fastened with a metal clasp. Open it and the central panel holds a relief nativity: Mary seated with the child, Joseph and two wise men rising behind her, all painted in deep reds, greens and golds against the dark wood. The side panels carry two further figures. The whole piece stands on a solid cedar base. Made in Peru. Closes flat; opens to roughly 27cm wide.Each triptych is carved and painted by hand, so grain, tone and painted detail vary between pieces.Cedar Peru H 27cm × W 27cm (open) × D 7cm
