We've transformed our thin and lightweight HENRY into a European-country-style monkey boot. Despite its thickness, the midsole uses soft tannin-tanned steer hide, giving it excellent flexibility. The beautiful lines of the HENRYS, with their substantial soles and snug fit, make these boots a joy to style with trousers. We also encountered a tannery with incredible skill. The Virgilio tannery uses pit tanning. In an age where drum tanning is mainstream for efficiency, Mr. Simone, the representative of the tannery, undertook pit tanning with the desire to "revive the good old tanning methods." While pit tanning is more labor-intensive than drum tanning, its firm, supple texture is a unique characteristic of this method. The LOANO leather is made from thick bull hide, and combines vachetta tanning with a pull-up finish. Its aging process is simply beautiful.
