Thank you! ----- This George the Farmer US Teacher Resource is designed to accompany the picture book George the Farmer: Kangaroo Cornfield. This free NGSS-aligned STEM teacher resource introduces students in Pre-K–Grade 4 to corn farming, plant health, food production, mapping technology, machinery, and the real-world problem-solving farmers use to grow and protect crops. Through the story of a Nebraska cornfield affected by fungus, students explore how farmers use science, technology, engineering, and creative thinking to turn a crop challenge into something positive for the community. Activities include reading and responding to the story, identifying healthy and unhealthy plants, mapping affected crop areas, designing a combine harvester, creating a corn maze, growing corn seeds, and writing a cornfield story. The resource also includes comprehension questions, vocabulary, real-world agriculture connections, and an assessment rubric. The activities are designed as flexible starting points for classroom or home learning and can be adapted for a range of learning levels, including younger Pre-K learners through drawing, sorting, guided discussion, oral responses, and teacher observation.
