Suzani Pillow - Mauve Tulip

This beautiful hand embroidered suzani fabric is sourced from Uzbekistan. We cut and sew the pillow by hand in our Houston workshop. One of a kind.A sand ground carries mauve tulips and pomegranate buds with crimson centres, on curling stems with deep teal leaves. The reverse is apple green and charcoal ikat. The face is embroidered in cotton and silk and a feather down insert is included. One panel, one pillow, no repeat.Suzani takes its name from suzan, the Persian word for needle. In the Silk Road towns of Uzbekistan the panels were embroidered by hand by a bride and the women of her family, and carried into a new household as part of her dowry.Size: 19" x 19"
