The colored vinyl edition “Sacrosanct” by Simple Minds is being released on the Specialist Green & Black Inkplosion Vinyl Edition and presents the band’s nineteenth studio album in a striking vinyl format. “Sacrosanct” brings together eight compositionally cohesive songs that showcase vocalist Jim Kerr and guitarist Charlie Burchill in a concise, focused way; the production relies on dense arrangements and expansive melodies without diluting the characteristic, elevated atmosphere of their early years. The LP thus offers new material that combines familiar dynamic arcs with fresh creative momentum. The release follows the third part of the live album series from 2025 and the joint biography “Our Secrets Are The Same,” which pays tribute to Kerr’s and Burchill’s long-standing friendship and drew attention in the relevant music media. After a 2024 world tour that saw them play to their largest audiences since 1985, the band will embark in early February on their most extensive tour to date, beginning in Australia and New Zealand and continuing through Europe and the UK. Against this backdrop, “Sacrosanct” comes across as a deliberate statement: together with BMG, Simple Minds are delivering an LP that carries the band’s history forward while simultaneously opening new chapters.
