Darkside of Soul were dark and noisy, listening to Screamo and many other genres, looking to the European and North American underground of the time. They mixed screeching hardcore with politicized emotion, and their working-class epic sounded urgent and desperate. Unwavering DIY ethics, youthful rage, tireless intensity, and a burning desire to shout truths; Darkside of Soul were a brief and endearing spark in the Barcelona hardcore punk scene that, I insist, is worth remembering.
