Camassia quamash (Camas)

Common Camas, Camassia quamash, is a perennial herb native to southern British Columbia and the northwestern U.S., belonging to the lily family. It thrives in moist meadows and prairies, featuring upright stems and slender, hairless leaves. Its flower spike bears numerous star-shaped blossoms that open simultaneously, ranging from blue to purple, with occasional white variants. The flowers open wide, displaying pollen that varies from bright yellow to dull yellow or violet.
