Kaleidoscope is a one-of-a-kind wearable work of art by Nomadic Reign, crafted from an antique American carriage or buggy blanket dating between 1890 and 1930. These blankets—once a symbol of luxury and warmth for wintertime open-air travel—now find new life in this striking couture creation. The back of the coat features a symmetrical, almost hypnotic design that inspired its name—Kaleidoscope. Bold magentas and deep burgundies mingle with vibrant greens and crimson reds, all set against a dramatic black ground. This vivid display is framed by swirling Art Nouveau-style borders in tan, light brown, and rich green, adding rhythm and movement to the piece. The sleeves, constructed from the solid black sections of the original blanket, maintain the coat's historic integrity. Trimmed in lush taupe lambswool, the collar, cuffs, and hemline add a touch of softness and warmth, both visually and texturally. The front panels are a continuation of the intricate green Art Nouveau motif, flowing seamlessly from back to front. Two silk-lined pockets offer elegance and function. The interior is just as rich as the exterior—lined in a regal wine red and gold silk featuring a classic fleur-de-lis pattern, bordered in a woven fringe of dusty rose, beige, and gold tassels.
