Catches the wind no matter which way it blows. Horizontal turbines need clean, steady wind from one direction at a time — and around houses, sheds and tree lines, that is exactly what you do not get. The wind swirls, gusts and switches, the yaw hunts back and forth, and the machine spends half its life turning to face the weather instead of harvesting it. The HPRO-1000 is an H-type vertical axis wind turbine — three straight aluminium-alloy blades on a magnetic-levitation generator, rated 1000 W. Because it is vertical, it takes wind from all 360 degrees without a yaw mechanism: nothing has to swing around to face a gust before it starts working. The maglev bearing means very little friction, so the rotor starts moving at 2.5 m/s — a light breeze. One thing about the photos: the finned centre drum shown between the blades in some pictures is an auxiliary starting rotor — an optional extra at additional cost, not part of the standard unit. Straight up about the numbers: the 1000 W rating is measured at 12 m/s — a 43 km/h blow, not a normal afternoon. The manufacturer publishes no power curve for its vertical models, so we cannot show you a watts-per-wind-speed table the way we do for our horizontal turbines — and we will not invent one. On a typical usable breeze you will see a fraction of the rated figure, working around the clock. Treat it as a round-the-clock charging assist for your solar, not a replacement for it. What It Solves The swirling-wind block: houses, sheds and trees chop the wind into gusts from every direction. A vertical rotor takes all of them — there is no yaw mechanism to hunt back and forth. The other half is a mast in clean air, cable sized for the run, breakers and an isolator, a dump load (included with the kit controller) and a battery bank to feed. Q & A Will it really make 1000 watts? At 12 m/s — a 43 km/h blow — that is the manufacturer's rating, with a stated maximum of 1,100 W. Unlike our horizontal turbines, the manufacturer publishes no power curve for this model, so we cannot tell you what it makes at 5, 7 or 9 m/s — and we will not calculate a figure and pass it off as measured. Expect a fraction of the rated output in normal usable wind, and size your system accordingly. Can the kit controller take solar panels? No. The WW10-48-48 is a pure-wind MPPT controller with no PV input at all, and the manufacturer lists no hybrid alternative for this model. If a one-box wind-plus-solar setup matters to you, look at the HPRO-2000 or the H12 range instead — we would rather point you at the right machine than sell you this one. The supplier publishes no battery-side charging current for this controller, and we will not calculate one by dividing watts by volts — that is how people end up sizing breakers off a guess. AC. The turbine generates 3-phase AC, and the rectifier inside the controller converts it to DC to charge the battery. A generator is not a battery: the voltage on that cable rises with rotor speed, which is exactly why the matched controller is built to take far more than the nominal battery voltage on its input. Cable selection and protection are your electrician's job. Is it really quiet? The manufacturer publishes no noise figure for the turbine, so we will not quote one. What we can tell you is the design case: a magnetic-levitation generator has almost no bearing friction, and a vertical rotor never slews around to chase the wind — those are the two things that make verticals the usual choice close to occupied buildings. If a decibel number matters to you, we do not have one to give. Can I mount it on the roof? The manufacturer lists rooftop mounting at 3 to 6 m above the roofline, or a ground mast at 6 to 10 m. Bear in mind this is a 95 kg machine before the mount — that is a structural question for your installer, not an afterthought. The electromagnetic brake and the controller's overspeed protection wind it back, and the machine is built to survive 35 m/s (126 km/h).
