It is pure and round, with red berries and autumnal spices elevated by a subtle tinge of citrus. A web of fine tannins coats the palate as the 2020 finishes long and staining, classically dry and expertly balanced 94 Points – Decanter Caparzo's Riserva is a selection of the vintage's best grapes from estate vineyards in the north and south of the Montalcino zone. Both areas are characterised by sandy, stony soils on slopes facing south to southeast. This shows precise aromas of maraschino cherry, heady flowers, sage and tobacco, with a suggestion of smoke. In the mouth it has a richness of fruit that's balanced by enveloping tannins. It has a lovely creaminess, but still needs time to fully express itself.
