Leather traps body heat against the chest and inner thighs first, which is exactly where this build is perforated. Air enters through the chest panel at speed, moves across the torso through the 3D vent panel, and exits at the back. The double-layer vented leather keeps that airflow going without dropping abrasion resistance, since the perforated sections sit over reinforced areas rather than over the primary impact zones. No. This is a Turbo Race Gear suit produced in our own facility in the Ducati Corse colorway, and it is not manufactured, licensed or sold by Ducati Motor Holding. The construction standard is the same across our entire race line: top-grain drum-dyed cowhide, metal armor at the impact zones, CE Level 2 back and thigh protection, double-layer vented leather and safety stitching through every seam that meets the ground in a slide. The graphics and panel layout on this model are fixed and ship exactly as shown in the product photos. Does perforated leather reduce crash protection? Not where it counts, because the perforation is placed deliberately. Perforated panels sit over the chest and upper thigh, which are not primary slide contact zones. In a typical low-side the shoulder, hip, outer thigh, elbow and knee take the abrasion, and those areas here are solid double-layer leather with metal armor or CE protectors behind them. Perforation does slightly reduce abrasion life in the perforated sections themselves, which is why you will not find it on a shoulder cap or a hip panel on any properly built race suit. How much cooler is this than a non-perforated suit? Noticeably, but only while you are moving. Perforation works by letting air pass through the hide, so at track speeds the difference is significant across the chest and thighs. Sitting stationary in pit lane it does very little, and no leather suit will feel cool standing in the sun. The practical gain is that you can complete full sessions in high heat without overheating in the last few laps, which is where most riders start making mistakes. Removing the mesh lining adds to it again. Should I go for red or white in a hot climate? Red with perforation beats white without it while you are riding, and white beats red while you are standing still. If most of your heat problem is on track, take this suit. If your issue is long grid waits, tech inspection queues and standing around a paddock in direct sun, the white build reflects more and will feel better off the bike. Riders in Arizona, Texas and Florida generally end up in this one because riding time is where the heat load actually accumulates.
