Hariko Maneki Neko Lucky Cat Nesting Dolls

Overview Details Shipping & Delivery Five Lucky Cats in Traditional Japanese Hariko Hariko (張り子) is a traditional Japanese papier-mâché craft made by forming layers of paper into lightweight, sculptural figures and hand-finishing each piece. This playful set brings the craft together with the idea of Russian matryoshka dolls: five maneki neko (“beckoning cats”) nest one inside another, with a different lucky cat revealed at each layer. The largest cat sits on the included red cushion. Maneki neko have long been displayed in Japan as symbols of good fortune. Each cat is handmade and hand-painted, with the soft texture of Japanese paper and slight variations that give every piece its own character. These lucky cats also greet guests at TOIRO and have become a favorite at our shop, with many visitors asking about having a set of their own. Now, you can welcome these charming lucky cats into your own home, too.
