Hampton Court Palace stands as a magnificent testament to the ambitions of Henry VIII. Built in the early sixteenth century, the estate became his cherished residence and the site of celebrated royal moments. Following his marriage to Jane Seymour in 1536, Henry VIII commissioned a commanding entrance to the palace, adorned with majestic beasts to honour his new Queen Consort. Ten royal creatures were chosen to grace the Moat Bridge: the Seymour Panther, Lion of England, Yale of Beaufort, Bull of Clarence, Seymour Unicorn, Tudor Dragon, Queen's Panther, Greyhound of Richmond, Queen's Lion and Royal Dragon. Created in collaboration with acclaimed sculptor and illustrator David Lawrence, The Royal Tudor Beasts 2027 UK Coin brings The Royal Mint's commemorative collection to its grand conclusion, featuring all ten iconic beasts in stunning detail.
