Galanthus elwesii ‘Claud Biddulph’
A distinctive virescent selection of Galanthus elwesii, ‘Claud Biddulph’ is notable for its subtle green shading on the outer segments, complemented by strongly coloured, dark green inner segments. The overall effect is an attractive green-and-white flower with a more pronounced green character than many conventional forms of the species. It is associated with Rodmarton Manor in Gloucestershire, where the Biddulph family has developed an important collection of snowdrops. Named in honour of Claud Biddulph, who commissioned Rodmarton Manor with his wife Margaret in the early twentieth century, it forms part of the family's horticultural legacy. Grow in humus-rich, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil, in partial shade, where the bulbs can establish into flowering clumps. Hardiness: H5 Height: 12-14 cm Spread: Clump-forming Flowering: January–February
