Set of six vintage Model 420 Side Chairs by Harry Bertoia for Knoll International

Designed in 1952, Bertoia's celebrated wire furniture collection transformed industrial steel rod into a remarkably light and sculptural seating form. The Model 420 Side Chair became one of the most recognisable designs of post-war American modernism. This matching set dates from the 1970s and consists of six chairs with black steel wire frames and ochre textile seat pads. Very good restored vintage condition. The chairs have been professionally sandblasted and powder-coated in black. During restoration, several areas of the wire frames were repaired by welding where necessary. These repairs remain visible on close inspection but are structurally sound and blend well with the black finish. The six original-style seat pads show some age-related wear and variation in colour. New glides.
