The slanted style is simply the design used in these applications. Which synchro sleeve do you need? This gear works with one of two sleeves. To pick the right one, look at the engagement teeth on your 1st gear. They are always symmetrical, so the only thing to check is whether each tooth has a “step” in it. Stepped 1st gear engagement teeth: you need the hybrid synchro sleeve. Its teeth stick out on one side and are flush on the other. Install it with the protruding teeth facing 1st gear and the flush teeth facing 2nd gear. Smooth 1st gear engagement teeth all the way down: you need the advanced synchro sleeve.
