This bold and beautiful one-off statement necklace oozes natural wonders of the ocean and earth. It comprises of a series of 20x6mm coin-shaped lava stone beads from Papua New Guinea, separated by half a dozen 10mm freshwater pearls, three ocean jasper nuggets, a handful of reconstituted coral, plus a series of turquoise wheel washers from Hubei – all wrapped and separated by brass spacers and bead caps. Must be seen to be appreciated and worn to be enjoyed! During the years Rose and her husband, Marius, owned two of Western Australia’s best-known bead shops in Broome and Margaret River, she had access to an extraordinary array of materials sourced from around the world - from tribal beads and stones from Afghanistan and Nepal to handmade African beads, exotic finds from India and Indonesia, and rare, centuries-old Venetian trade beads. Each piece Rose creates is unique - a genuine one-of-a-kind creation, reflecting her own artistic vision and the influences of her Indigenous Canadian roots, her travels and the many fascinating people she met through the couple’s shops. Her designs bring together an exceptional array of materials, combining semi-precious stones such as lapis lazuli, malachite, turquoise and amethyst with natural materials including coral, pearl shell, bone, wood and metal.
