This tang comes from coral reefs in the western indo-pacific region. This is a semi-aggerssive tang that needs plenty of swimming room. The maculiceps tang is in the Acanthurus genus. Caution should be taken when mixing the Maculiceps tangs with other tangs, especially other Acanthurus sp. Tangs. The Maculiceps tang can become very territorial once established in the tank. Tangs are especially prone to disease and ecto-parasites, so we strongly recommend using a protein skimmer and U/V Sterilizer when housing tangs. Make sure to provide plenty of rock-work so that this fish is able to establish its own territory. The Maculiceps tang will appreciate a mixed diet including plenty of seaweed, pellet food soaked in vitamin C, and meaty frozen foods.
