Vintage Kölner Dom Cologne Cathedral Metal Trinket / Jewellery Box The central architectural panel depicts the cathedral's distinctive twin Gothic spires and is inscribed KÖLNER DOM. The remainder of the box is extensively decorated in relief with floral, scrolling and rococo-inspired ornament, and the box stands on four shaped feet. The hinged lid opens to reveal a fitted interior compartment, currently containing yellow cotton-wool / padding. The underside of the lid is also particularly decorative, with an elaborate embossed scrolling foliate pattern. The base has a textured cast finish together with a small impressed mark. The mark is currently too indistinct to identify confidently, so no specific maker attribution is being made. The box is constructed from silver-coloured cast metal. The precise metal composition has not been identified, so it is not being described specifically as bronze, brass, spelter or another particular alloy. Condition: There is also age-related wear to the interior and padding.
