Joseph Rodgers & Sons VR 11.5" Slicer Carbon Steel Stag Sheffield 1886-1890?

Joseph Rodgers & Sons 11" carbon steel slicer with a US patent date of Feb 16th 1886 but without "England" as would be required for import to the US post 1891 tariff laws. Blade is a flat forged construction with a rectangular stick tang, blade has been thinned and set on a vintage English or American stag handle with a later 1960s German steel ferrule, a good fit but a little historically inaccurate. Blade has some pits but is still full, this is an uncommon knife from Joseph Rodgers, regarded as one of Sheffield's finest makers and a very collected name.
