The Pariah - Harrington Jacket

THE PARIAH — HARRINGTON JACKET EXILE ≠ PUNISHMENT Not every exile is a punishment. Sometimes it is simply the moment you realize you are better off on the outside. The Harrington fits that thought remarkably well. Built originally for an entirely different purpose, it traveled far past its own origin and was taken up over decades by scenes and subcultures that read their own meaning into it. A plain piece of clothing that kept surfacing wherever people had decided to do things their own way. Which is probably why we should have noticed sooner that it belonged with COVEN. We did not. The idea came out of the Black Temple. At some point the wish that COVEN should build a Harrington was simply standing in the room. We read it, and something that had not even been on our list became a real project within days. The Pariah is one of those rare projects that never sat on our own pile waiting for its turn. The jacket exists because someone from this community put the thought out there and enough people saw in it exactly what we saw. And perhaps that is the most fitting origin a jacket called The Pariah could have. Not made in a closed room, but out of the circle itself. By people who understood long ago that outside does not automatically mean worse. That distance sometimes makes room. And that you do not have to belong everywhere just because a door happens to be open. So we had no interest in reinventing the Harrington. We wanted to see what happens when it goes through COVEN. For the outer fabric the choice fell on a technical T400 Oxford with DWR coating: robust, dimensionally stable and built to hold the clean Harrington silhouette without stripping its classic character. The water-repellent finish gives the fabric the function we expect from a jacket that is not only meant to look good on a hanger. From the outside it stays quiet and close to classic. Most of it shows only on the second look, or not until the jacket is opened. Tiger Stripe Red in the lining, the hidden patch panel and the exclusive patch belong to a language that does not need explaining to everyone. The COVEN logo sits as a discreet embroidery at the neck. Whoever is meant to see it will see it. A clean jacket for the excommunicated. Thanks to the Black Temple for the idea.
