Sew a Nico Pullover! One Day Class: Tuesday, Nov 3rd

Please note this is an all day in person Class that will take place in our Charlottesville, VA shop. Go Vote and then come spend the rest of Election Day sewing with us! Class will take place on Tuesday November 3rd from 12pm-5pm. The Pattern: The Nico Pullover is a slight twist on your classic, cozy teeshirt or sweatshirt. View A is the perfect oversized sweatshirt with drop shoulders and elastic wrist cuffs. View B is your dream oversized tee with drop shoulders and short sleeves. Both views include the choice of either a slightly curved or straight hem. The Nico is size inclusive, with a 0-34 size range, which correlates to Full Bust 30"-65" Required Skills: This class is for you if you are ready to take your garment sewing to the next level, and tackle a knit project. You will need to be comfortable using a machine on your own, and have previously worked with a sewing pattern. This class is great for you if you have taken our Beginner Garment Sewing class, or something comparable. What you will learn: How to take your measurements and select a size based on the sizing chart Making minor pattern alterations, such as shortening or lengthening Working with knits; including understanding stretch percentage, as well as machine stitch settings, topstitching and hemming* Working with ribbing and/or elastic *We will have sergers available in class if you choose to use them. We will be sewing all our seams on the sewing machines and will provide instruction on finishing seams with the sergers if you so wish. Knits are actually the perfect garment fabric to sew entirely on your sewing machine, as they do not fray, but we'll provide the option to use sergers if you are interested! What you will need: Pattern: The Nico Pullover by Summerhouse, please visit Summer Haus and purchase the pattern directly from her website. You will need to download the files to access the pattern and instructions. Please come to class with the instructions ready to go in your preferred method (either printed at home, or on a tablet or laptop) for easy referencing Fabric! Purchase your fabric your fabric ahead of class, so that you can wash and press it before class. Here are our reccomended fabrics for this pullover: -Organic Cotton Waffle Knit -Knit Cotton Stripe -Organic Cotton Fleece -Ribbing Notions: Coordinating thread and elastic if you are sewing the long sleeve (view A) What is included: Pattern printing, we will print your A0 pattern and have it ready for you! Full use of our studio space, including large cutting tables, tools and machines. We will be sewing on our Bernina machines. If you would like to bring your own machine please let us know, and we will have space available for you to set up. This class will be taught by Elise and Jessamy Please note our shop will be open during this class. What we are wearing: Elise is wearing the Nico in View A; size 20, sewn in a French Terry (from her stash!) Jessamy is wearing the Nico also in View A, sewn in our Cotton Stripe in Rust, with matching Rust neckband. She sewed the straight hem view, and opted to leave the elastic out of the cuffs. She went down one size from her measurements in the chart, and is wearing a size 2 on a 34" bust. She is also pictured wearing a size 3 in our Waffle Knit in Sage with coordinating rib for the neckband and cuffs. Class participants will receive 10% off of any materials purchased in the shop for their projects.
