Blocks of soft colour overlap and interrupt one another, curved forms sit against stepped, angular ones, and the whole composition is abstract in the truest sense — no traditional motif, no repeating pattern, just balance, rhythm and colour arranged by eye. It would not look out of place beside a Klee or a Cubist collage, and that is exactly the point. The palette is its quiet triumph: sage green, dusty blue, lilac, blush, mustard and taupe, grounded with the occasional note of near-black. It is newly hand-knotted in 100% wool by the women artisans we work with in Morocco, hand-spun and hand-dyed using our traditional vat-dyeing process. Every colour you see was mixed and dyed by hand, and the design drawn freehand at the loom — which is why it has a warmth and irregularity no printed or machine-made rug can imitate.
