The lower end attaches using 2" rigid PVC pipe or 1.5" to 1.25" flexible hose. No flow switch is needed because the return jet position allows gases produced during chlorination to dissipate naturally. The HP (hose/pipe) model installs the cell in-line on the external return hose and includes a flow switch. Both produce identical chlorine output and cover the same pool volume. The RJ is preferred when the external plumbing is rigid or when a lower-profile installation is desired; the HP suits pools where cutting into the return hose is simpler. Before purchasing, confirm your pool wall return jet opening accepts standard 1.5-inch AquaTrol fittings. Intex pools use proprietary non-standard fittings and typically require the hose/pipe model instead. No. The return jet mounting position allows gases produced during chlorination to dissipate naturally upward into the pool, so no flow switch is required. The HP (hose/pipe) model does include a flow switch because the in-line horizontal installation needs it. Can I use this on a pool with two return jets? Install the cell at the primary return jet handling the majority of pump flow. On pools where flow is split equally between two returns, the hose/pipe model installed in-line on the main return hose before the split delivers more consistent cell performance by keeping full pump flow through the cell. Is this compatible with an Intex pool? Generally no. Intex pools use proprietary wall fittings with non-standard thread dimensions.
