The year 1958 marked a seismic shift in how the world heard music. As high fidelity stereo sound entered the American living room, Juan García Esquivel stood at the vanguard, transforming the recording studio into a playground of sonic geometry. Exploring New Sounds in Stereo is more than an album; it is a masterclass in the space age pop movement, where the placement of an instrument was as vital as the notes it played. Esquivel, the Mexican King of Lounge, did not merely arrange music; he choreographed it. Utilizing the legendary acoustics of Webster Hall, he split his orchestra into distinct groups to maximize the ping pong effect of early stereo. The result is a vivid, three-dimensional landscape where brass fanfares leap from the left speaker only to be answered by whimsical vocalizations or a tinkling celesta on the right. The signal path begins with a VPI HW-40 Anniversary turntable paired with an Ortofon MC Anna cartridge, fed through a Merrill Audio Jens Phono pre-amp for accurate RIAA equalization. The analog signal converts via a Merging Anubis converter, powered by a Teddy Pardo Linear Power Supply, synchronized to an Antelope Audio 10MX atomic clock for temporal accuracy. All components receive isolated power conditioning through a Shunyata Research Everest 8000 with Sigma-X cords, while grounding infrastructure utilizes Shunyata ALTAIRA hubs to minimize noise floor and preserve sonic detail throughout the transfer chain. 1 My Blue Heaven 2:53 2 Bella Mora 2:26 3 Boulevard Of Broken Dreams 3:04 4 Lazy Bones 2:46 5 Spellbound 3:31 6 All Of Me 2:19 7 Watchamacallit 2:33 8 La Ronde 2:29 9 My Number One Love 2:56 10 The 3rd Man Theme 2:27 This Title is in the Vinyl Record Restoration Series.
