Within this Map of Erebor, near the northern edge of Mirkwood Forest, sits the Lonely Mountain. Smaug the dragon flies overhead. Erebor was the great mountain kingdom of Durin’s Folk in the North, known for its halls, its forges, and the wealth gathered beneath the stone. Its prosperity ended with the coming of Smaug, who drove the dwarves out and claimed the mountain for himself. For years it remained under the dragon’s shadow, until the quest to reclaim it began.
