Make a Slab Built Mini Vase with Emily Hett Art

Price £60 Location South Coventry - The workshops take place in my garden studio. Full address details will be sent over once you’ve booked Date & Time Saturday 22nd August 10am-12.30pm A relaxed, creative 2.5 hour workshop with Emily. A nice way to slow down, get stuck into clay, and make something simple and sculptural by hand. In this session, you’ll build a small vase using slab building techniques, then spend time adding your own surface detail. You can keep it minimal or add texture, carving, or pattern using slips and underglazes to make it your own and bring it to life! Everything is guided step-by-step, so no experience is needed. What to expect You’ll construct your vase from clay slabs, shape and refine the form, then decorate the surface using carving and texture techniques. After the session, your piece will be fired and ready to collect within 3-4 weeks. A few studio notes The studio is outdoors, so it does vary with the weather — warm in the summer and quite cool in the winter. Please come in layers so you can stay comfortable and adjust as needed. Clay does wash out, but I’d avoid wearing anything you’re particularly precious about. Just something relaxed that you don’t mind getting a bit messy. Firing One of the realities of working with clay is that pieces can occasionally crack or change in the kiln. It doesn’t happen often, but it is part of the process. Everything is handled with care, but I can’t guarantee every piece will come through perfectly. Accessibility At the moment, the studio isn’t wheelchair accessible.
