Labradorite flash cabochons are polished gemstone cuts designed to showcase the stone’s famous optical effect known as labradorescence — the vivid flashes of blue, green, gold, orange, or even purple light that appear as the stone moves. A cabochon (“cab”) is a gemstone shaped and polished with a smooth, domed top rather than facets. Labradorite is almost always cut this way because the curved surface best reveals the internal flash layers.
