About Las Nubes The Menendez farm is a family affair run by Don Miguel and his two sons Miguel and Guillermo. It was passed down to Don Miguel from his father’s father. It’s a farm built by folks who walk their land in the half-light of early morning to prune coffee plants. Coffee from the Menendez’s is grown in soil tended by generations of intentionality. Las Nubes is a small lot on one of the farm’s higher mountains. The lot is made up of heritage bourbon coffee plants, which is one of the matriarchal varieties of coffee — one that is quickly dying out due to its susceptibility to an invasive rust. The Menendez’s have been able to utilize the high elevation and attentive growing techniques to enable their bourbon plants to continue to thrive. This coffee is both wet and dry milled on the farm right after it’s harvested. This means that the Menendez’s are able to control the quality of the coffee all the way from start to finish. All this loving effort results in a cup of coffee full of the sweet, bright citrus of a tangerine, the nutty & buttery mouthfeel of almond paste and the deep, dark sugar of caramel to round it out. It’s a coffee that has delighted us for many. many years and we’re so excited to bring it to you again!
