DATE: Georgian, c.1780 A spectacular Georgian tiara, gorgeously crafted and fitted in a royal blue velvet box. Its composed of countless natural and seed pearls, I can't imagine you could count them all- all woven and finely strung to create fantastic starbursts and fleur-de-lys' across the top. It rests on top of the head with three rows of pearls, and each pearl set motif alternates in style, height and size. The way they are set almost looks as if the piece is moving (also known as trompe l'oeil- deceives the eye), tiny seed pearls finely strung in shapes, with gorgeous natural pearls placed on top, following the same pattern to create dimension and movement. It looks beautiful worn, perfect for a wedding I must say- with the perfect symbolism of beauty and grace from the antique pearls. The starburst' can be removed if you choose, to be worn as brooches or other attachments, but we feel as though you cannot top a tiara! You can see the excellent craftsmanship that has been put into this, each section of pearls attached by an extremely fine gut cord, backed on to mother of pearl panels. Dating to circa 1780, this piece remains in great antique condition. Fit for a princess.
