Its intricate decorative surface was inspired in part by the ‘white room’ of Blackwell – an Arts and Crafts house designed by M H Baillie Scott at the turn of the ninteenth century and located here in the Lake District overlooking Lake Windermere. Four sizes are included in the pattern with everything from an expansive wedding style shawl to a neat cravat-esque necktie achievable from this single pattern. Our yarn kit includes our Melissa yarn, a fine 1 ply Laceweight yarn, spun from a luxurious blend of baby alpaca, silk and cashmere. The yarn is perfect for this intricate design and is incredibly soft when directly against the skin. The impressive meterage of Melissa means that even the largest version of Baillie requires only 100 grams of this stunning yarn. Every skein is hand-dyed here at our Lake District studio. Kit Size One includes a 50g skein of Melissa in the shade of your choosing, and is enough yarn to knit the neckerchief, shown here in Burnt Sienna or the second size shawlette, plus a Susan Crawford project bag.
