Heavy Kantha Blanket Quilt In Orange, Pink and Blue Colour Blocks

Originally made as a light floor covering, this heavy kantha quilt style looks woven but it's actually intricately all hand stitched all over. Originally hand-crafted in Bengal, India, made using layers of vintage sari fabric sewn together using hundreds of sturdy kantha stitches punched through the layers. This style is a heavy weight with a softness from use, so it works beautifully draped over a sofa, a bench or on the bed as a heavy blanket. This style of kantha was made to be practical and durable. In great condition for its age, this design features vibrant blocks of colours on one side and a yarn dyed stripe on the other with ikat details. The thread used for the stitching creates an extra layer of pattern.
