In this fun, relaxing watercolour workshop, Clare will guide participants in painting an A4 watercolour artwork featuring a bird of their choice. The lesson will focus on; Use Basic Watercolour techniques to produce a delightful illustration. Observe reference images: pose, proportion and personality Learn to translate texture: feathers, soft edges, and details Add illustrative details (expressive eyes, feather definition) Workshops are calm, encouraging and process-focused rather than perfection-focused. Students will leave with a finished bird piece ready to frame. Date & Time: Saturday 15th August OR Friday 4th September 10.00am to 4.00pm The studio will be open from 9.45am. Please be ready to start your workshop at 10.00am so that you don’t miss any important information. Please Note: If you are late to class, you may be asked to wait until a suitable pause in tuition when your tutor will come and get you and catch you up so you do not interrupt the flow of the workshop. Venue: Whimsical Creatives Rear 183 Maroondah Hwy, Healesville VIC 3777 (Entry via Church Street/River Street Carpark) Tutor: Clare Dunstan of Tog & Pini Clare’s artistic practice is rooted in her love for animals and storytelling, which inspires her art. She have been working as an artist in a professional capacity for the past 15 years and has enjoyed exhibiting throughout Victoria and posting work across the globe. Watercolour is her ‘go to’ medium. She loves its fluid quality and how it behaves – sometimes unexpectedly – on the paper. She also enjoy making sculptures from mixed media, and found objects. Clare works from her home studio in leafy Research, Victoria, where her days are shared with her family and her menagerie of pets. Skill Level: This class has been designed for those with some watercolour experience however patient beginners are more than welcome and encouraged. If you are a beginner please just let us know upon booking or when you receive the Confirmation of Booking email a few weeks before your workshop. Students need to be 16+ to attend. Cost: $150 all inclusive. Workshop Price includes: – Tuition – Premium watercolour paper – Use of premium watercolour paints – Use of brushes and palettes – A list of all paints and brushes which can be purchased after the workshop if desired through Whimsical Creatives. – Morning and Afternoon tea (please let us know of any intolerances or allergies and we’ll do our best to accommodate you) – Tea/coffee EFTPOS & Credit Card Facilities Available. All bookings require a non-refundable deposit to be secure, with the balance to be paid on the day of the workshop. You also have the option of paying in full upfront. Places are strictly limited as we run with small class sizes ensuring that all participants receive personalised attention from their tutor. At our workshops, you are not just a number! What to Bring: If you have your own brushes you are welcome to bring them along (otherwise you can borrow ours); Your lunch (or you can go into town on your lunch break); Notebook/Pen/Pencil if you would like to take notes. Extra Information Regarding COVID/Illness: We ask that you remember that we are a small business run by someone with chronic illnesses. Many of our visitors are also immune compromised. Please do not visit the studio if you are unwell in any way. Thank you for your understanding. Why Do a Workshop with Us? Here’s what makes us different from other creative spaces. All our Tutors are experienced in teaching and have many years of experience working with their respective mediums/in their field of expertise – for most of our tutors this is over 15 years experience. Our workshop sizes are small with usually no more than 12 students. We provide a friendly, inviting space and cater for many challenges you may face (health issues, food intolerances, anxiety, etc.). Many of our students (and some of our tutors) suffer from chronic illness and have special needs. If you have any concerns, please feel free to reach out to Dani who will do her best to help you out; We use only high quality materials/products in our workshops and myself and our Tutors are familiar with how these work and can give you accurate information/answers to your questions; Students are able to browse our 1500+ products and purchase if they wish to either before, during or after their workshop; We offer payment plan options on most workshops as we understand that finances can be tight (please email if you’d like to take advantage of this); We are fully insured and there is always someone on site who has a Level 2 first aid qualification and asthma management training. All tutors who are working with children have current, valid Working with Children Checks. We offer ‘after workshop’ support for all our students. Students can ask questions of our tutors and refresh any information they need to after the workshop via email, phone or in our Facebook group especially for students.
