Vintage Low Pile Moroccan Rug

Overview: We often find rugs like this and say they don't make them like this anymore, and it's true! This vintage rug features a soft, densely woven wool pile. If you look at the warp strands (that poke out on either end of the rug, forming the fringe), you'll notice that they're very fine and kind of kinky, indicating that the warp was hand spun. This is a mark of expertise! Nowadays, with new rugs, the artisans often just use a cotton warp that they bought in the souk, but in the old days, women would laboriously card, spin, and then dye the wool for the warp. As a medium-sized rug, this piece would look great in a smaller living room or at the foot of the bed. Wherever you put it, we would recommend pairing it with a rug pad in order to anchor it in place and give it a little more cushioning underfoot. Please note, that this rug varies in width.
